Das Kreuz des Guten Hirten zeigt Christus, der das verlorene Schaf auf seinen Schultern trägt, umgeben von seiner Herde – ein Bild des Hirten, der das Verlorene sucht und es heimträgt. Über ihm schwebt die herabkommende Taube als Zeichen des Heiligen Geistes.
Das Kreuz wird in Nazareth von Hand aus Olivenholz gefertigt und trägt ein detailreiches, silberfarbenes Metallrelief mit Antik-Finish, das die Figuren und die Struktur der Szene hervorhebt. Die natürliche Maserung und die warmen Töne des Olivenholzes umrahmen das Bild, sodass jedes Kreuz ein wenig anders ist.
Das Motiv wird weithin mit dem Brustkreuz von Papst Franziskus in Verbindung gebracht, doch seine Bedeutung stammt aus einem der ältesten und beständigsten Christusbilder: dem Guten Hirten, der seine Schafe kennt und für jedes einzelne sorgt.
